Build A Brad Bracelet and Matching Earrings

The Stampin’ Up! Convention is in Salt Lake City, Utah and will take place this week.  Oddly enough, the CKU convention that I usually attend is in Provo, about 45 miles south of SLC, but put on by Creating Keepsakes happens to be the week after.  I’ve been scheming to figure out how to be gone for both, and my dh made it possible, but because there’s little vaction time left to spend with Nicholas so I guess I’ll save the money and use it for my first August order instead!

Here’s a picture of the gifts that I’ve made for a couple of the ladies that I know from Julie’s downline and because I spend time with them frequently, I wanted to make something unique that we could wear while we’re at convention.

I’m pretty sure it’s safe to post them to my blog because none of them have blogs, nor did they know what a "reader" was, so I think it’s ok to post today.

This original idea came from a fellow demonstrator, Patty Bennett several months ago.  I am thinking she has a lot of beading experience, or makes jewelry frequently, because as I update this, she has new posts for faux sea glass charms she made to swap at convention that she created from shrink plastic and painted, and then created nice bracelets from.

 Thanks for stopping by!

Voila Chef Class Coming in September

I love to cook, as does my sister, who is actually a chef.  I borrowed this Voila set from my friend Tina Sullivan to make the Take Out Menu Holder, found on my SU website.  More recently, I won this set from my upline for my monthly sales a couple months ago.  I have used this Voila Chef set in order to make my sister a recipe scrapbook, and then I made her a set of note cards.  I’ve recently made this recipe box, and the contents are tabbed divider cards made with From the Kitchen Of.  I also mailed her a little note pad/pen set and then Julie made one for me!

The apron is done by stamping onto the apron background, then the fabric which I cut into pieces for his uniform, and finally onto fabric sizing, which are then ironed onto my apron.

Of course the Voila set doesn’t need to be used just for cooking and as gifts for cooks.  There are other items that you can place onto his large platter, for weddings, birthdays, etc.

This recipe box is an altered tin, and is a little more time consuming than some projects.  My plan is to have a class where we all bring a recipe and share them with the other class members so that our box is filled when we go home.  It would make a great addition to anyone’s kitchen, but of course great for gift giving too!  I will be sending out a newsletter update soon, for the upcoming classes.  Thanks for stopping by.

Pun Fun Gift Card Holder

The Pun Fun Stamp Set is one of my new favorites.  I haven’t had it too long, so I’m just beginning to play with it.  I’ll be offering a stamp-a-stack in August when I return from convention that uses the Pun Fun set.  More of that will follow.

Today, I made a few changes to a small gift card holder which had posted to our yahoo demonstrator group a few days ago.   I used a corner rounder at the bottom edge of the front flap, to make the scalloped edge.  The middle scallop is actually the enclosure for the gift card holder, and slides into a small slit I made into the bottom flap with my craft knife, just before I taped it up to form the pocket.  I used the skinny sticky tape on the pocket, as well as punching 1/2 of a circle with the 1 1/4 inch circle punch.  I stamped the front background with the small flower from One of a Kind set, and the "For You" from the Fundamental Phrases set.  The bird is from Pun Fun, as is the inside sentiment, which reads, "Happy Bird-day!" I colored the bird with both pastels and markers.  There are many small images that would be a great substitute for the bird image.

Speaking of the scalloped edge, I won’t have to make it this way anymore, since TODAY my new order from Stampin’ Up! arrived with the new scallop edge punch inside!  YEAH!  I just can’t say enough about it.  My order was a sneak peak of products which will be coming your way when the new catalog comes out in August, and you’ll be able to order from August 11.
